A guest invited to the Georgian table is first of all offered to eat the golden-brown khachapuri. The most common type is called Imeruli Khachapuri - a round thin pie filled with mildly salted cheese. Other varieties are: Adjaruli khachapuri - an open boat shaped dough with cheese and topped with egg; Achma - thin layers of boiled dough and cheese with butter, Penovani - thin layers of dough with Sulguni cheese, Megruli khachapuri - similar to Imeruli, but with a sprinkling of cheese and egg on top.
